Esta operación ha llenado páginas y páginas, primero de revistas científicas y después de las del corazón. Algunas de éstas han dado a sus lectores ideas no muy claras. Con una experiencia de más de 22 años en la liposucción clásica  puedo explicar estos temas con conocimiento de causa.
Preguntas Frecuentes
¿Qué es la liposucción?
Quizás deba empezar diciendo lo que no es: la Liposucción NO ES el sustituto de una dieta adelgazante ni el remedio mágico de la obesidad. Sí es la solución para QUITAR GRASAS LOCALIZADAS EN SITIOS EXACTOS: "pistoleras", papada (doble barbilla), vientre, muslos, glúteos, rodillas, tobillos, etc. Es una forma de operar en Cirugía Estética con la que sacamos grasa del cuerpo por medio de un aspirador especial a través de unas heridas diminutas y con un tubo aspirador la mitad de grueso que un bolígrafo.

Pero ¿puede volver a salirme?
No, si se hace bien. Para que entienda el mecanismo: imagine un queso blando en el que hiciésemos "túneles" con ese tubo y después lo apretásemos; haciendo el suficiente número de "túneles" el grosor del queso bajaría. Igual ocurrirá con su grasa y, como es lógico, los billones de células grasas que estarán ya fuera NO PUEDEN VOLVER A CRECER porque las que quedan no tienen capacidad de multiplicarse aunque sí pueden aumentar de tamaño con lo que, si usted no tiene cuidado, podrá ganar peso, pero ahora ya por igual en todo el cuerpo, no como antes que aumentaba siempre más en esas partes.

¿Y la anestesia?
Si hablamos de 3 ó 4 sitios en cada pierna podemos hacerlo con simple anestesia local sin ingreso en clínica. Si es del abdomen para abajo, puedo usar anestesia epidural como la usan en los partos y deberá estar unas 12 horas. Y, desde luego, si usted quiere que sea con general, o si son muchas localizaciones de donde sacar grasa, tendrá que estar 1 ó 2 días ingresada.

¿Que cicatrices me quedarán?
Mínimas, un par alrededor de cada sitio que se aspira, miden unos 3-4 milímetros o sea que, imagine, en un mes o dos ni se ven.

¿Y las molestias?
Llevar en la zona operada una faja especial que deberá usar durante unas 6 semanas por lo que NO recomiendo hacerse esto en los meses de calor. Se le harán moraduras a veces fuertes, tendrá zonas de piel insensibles y algo de dolor durante unos pocos días.

¿Y volver a la vida normal?
Depende de 3 cosas: de cómo sea usted, de qué es lo que hace y de cómo es la operación de extensa. Por regla general, a los 10 días comienzan a desaparecer los moretones. Puede hacer trabajos ligeros, ejercicios (bicicleta es muy bueno) y masaje suave (con cepillo o aparatos manuales) durante 3 semanas más. A las 4 semanas ha debido desaparecer la inflamación (aunque a algunas personas puede durarles más tiempo). Empezará a recuperar la sensibilidad. Será conveniente entonces algún masaje profesional. A las 6 semanas puede practicar ya deportes o trabajos fuertes y quitarse la faja.
